Optical Illusion
The goal in this small New England style home in ____ was to make the space appear and feel larger than it actually was - from the inside and the outside. Creating usable, visually appealing swaths of well married textures create warmth and ease in what could otherwise be a stark combination of concrete, rock, turf, and metal.
Plant Selection
The homeowner and I did several nursery trips together examining her inspiration photos and trying to find a petite leafed specimen for the groundcover to give a feminine, delicate touch to the garden.

The grey leafed Pittosporums peak in and out of the fence providing a little unrulyness and surprise in this small space. Welded metal frame gate with black cedar stained boards play off the dark interior of the home. Existing agaves were harvested and replanted and tilted to welcome visitors in.
